Home to many significant civilizations throughout history
and abundant in archaeological remains, Anatolia was the primary center of
Oushak carpet production dating back to the early days of the Ottoman Empire.
Now woven in India, specialized artisans have rejuvenated the carpets from the
traditional Turkish star and medallion motifs in heavy color palettes to more
subtle designs and refined colors. Unlike the Persian knot construction, Oushak
carpets are more loosely woven with a Ghiordes knot and a shortened pile, which
is hand-spun from a silky, luminous New Zealand Wool fiber. Avant - Garde
